I need SUN!!!

Is it just me or does this weather give anyone else a case of the BLAHS? All I want is to get out and enjoy a walk in the park or better yet a cocktail poolside. In the meantime I will drag myself through the rest of the horrid season and anxiously await Mr. Sunshine.

This past Friday I got to have a girls night. My two best friends, Kara and Nichole and I went to a scrapbooking party. There is a little place in Andover that allows people to come in after hours and scrapbook the night away. You pay $5 and you can use all of their stensils and stamps and page cutters......everything. It was a blast! I had started my "Friends" scrapbook about 6 months ago and was able to finish it up that night. We finally left at midnight after a long evening of fun and lots of girl talk. Here is a pic of all of us girls:

Saturday and Sunday were lazy days for Josh, Kinsey and I. We all cuddled in bed until 10:00 each day. It was soo nice. We watched the KU game with my brother on Saturday night. There is nothing louder than a house full of Jayhawk fans. Lucky for all of us it was a victory.  Josh and I recently started attending a small group each Tuesday evening. There are about 6 other couples around our age that get together and have a good time. This month we are watching a movie called "Laugh your way to a Healthier Marriage."  The author is a really funny guy who discusses the differences between men and women. We then open up discussions about how we all deal with those differences in our own marriages. It really helps to see all of the other couples and realize we are so much more alike than we would have thought.

Kinsey is growing like a weed. She is smiling and cooing all day long. She holds her head up so well. I feel like soon she will be mobile and I will be chasing her all over the place......Ok maybe not that soon :)
Here is a picture of her in her bumbo!

Sorry for the hiatus

Wow I guess it has been quite awhile since I have updated on here. Well on the weekend of Feb 6th we traveled to Topeka for Joshs grandparents 50th anniversary party. We spent the night so we could spend some extra time with Joshs mom and stepdad since this would be their first time meeting Kinsey. We stayed in a hotel in Topeka and Kinsey did great on her first night away from home. We arrived in Topeka about 11:00 in time for the anniversary party. Frank and Colette are a true inspiration to all married couples and we are so happy to have had the honor of celebrating their 50th anniversary with them. After the party we all went back to the hotel and got ready for dinner. We dined at Red Lobster where Josh and I had a glass of wine and a beer. As it was early and the hotel was within walking distance we were pretty excited. Kinsey slept well in the hotel and really loved meeting the rest of her family. It was great to spend time with those we dont get to see too often.

As everyone knows yesterday was Valentines day. Kins and I woke up and Josh had suprised us with flowers. Kinsey got pink roses and I got red roses. He then asked both of us to be his Valentine. How precious. My good friend Nichole kept Kinsey over night so Josh and I could go to dinner and spend the night alone. I was a nervous mess. I called Nichole a million times. It was, however, nice to spend some quality time with Josh, not to mention a full nights sleep. Nichole said that Kinsey slept very well and was a perfect angel for them. I am sooo glad her first sleep over went so well.

Kinsey is 6 weeks now and my maternity leave is officially half over. I really enjoy spending each day with her and am not looking forward to going back to work. Being a mom is the most rewarding job and each day I spend with her is a blessing.

1 Month.

Well we have officially made it to 1 whole month. Wow how time flies. Kinsey is growing so much every day. We had a doctors appointment on Monday and she now weighs 8lbs 9oz. She is doing great! We have finally started a bedtime routine. At about 8pm she gets a bath. She loves to sit in her little whale tub in the bubbles! Then Josh takes her to her bedroom and plays some slow music while he gives her a massage with bedtime lotion. He then puts her in her pjs. After about 10 mins of rocking she then goes to her pack and play next to our bed. She will usually fuss for about 20-30 mins but then goes to sleep on her own. She will usually wake up at midnight and want to eat. Getting her back to sleep in her pack and play is pretty tricky. Sometimes she will fall back asleep on her own and sometimes she wont sleep unless it is with me in our bed. She will wake up at 300 again to eat and from then on she sleeps with me. I am hoping that eventually she will grow out of the last feeding and then sleep on her own the whole night. Probably wishful thinking on my behalf. Josh gets up at 545 to get ready for work and that is when Kinsey and I start our day unless I go to the gym at 500.

We had lunch with my best friend for her birthday on Monday and had lunch with Josh on Tuesday. Other than that this week has been pretty laid back. No big adventures. We will be traveling to Topeka this weekend for Joshs step grandparents 50th anniversary party. His mom will be there and this will be the first time she has got to meet Kinsey. We look forward to spending the weekend with family. And of course we hope to make it home in time for the super bowl.

Have a great Weekend everyone!!!
