Holiday cheer

So I kinda skipped right past Thanksgiving. Mostly because I didnt take any pictures and I had to work a lot around the holiday. I know....LAME!
Anyway Josh and I wanted to do something with Kinsey that was service oriented but she is too young for most volunteer things.
My fab Gma lives in an assisted living facility on the east side and just loves to have visitors. So my plan was to have Kinsey help me back cookies, package them all prettily and deliver them to the residents while visiting my gma! Total kill 2 birds with one stone project! Gma loves visitors and Kinsey was getting to give to others!
Much to my suprise this was a total success. She loved helping me bake and was an excellent assistant packager. Granny walked us throught the facility and we knocked on doors, handing the resident cookies and wishing them happy holidays! They all adored Kinsey and she just ate up all of the attention. I hope we brought some holiday cheer to some who may not have anyone who visits them.
This will definitely be repeated next year.
Next years goal: Take more than one picture :(

Sleep over

Nothing beats movie night!!! Kinsey, Josh and I rented the Cat in the Hat (I bet you can tell who had the most say in that rental), moved all of the furniture out of the living room and brought out the sleeping bags and pillows. Popcorn was popped and everyone had a great time! Then the movie ended, it was 10pm and Kinsey was running around the house like a mad woman!
At that point an executive decision was made to abort operation sleep over and put that girl to bed!
In the end we got to spend some super awesome family time together and mommy and daddy didnt have to wake up in the morning with sore backs from sleeping on the floor! Score!

Whoa Baby Im behind

These past couple of months have been complete insanity. First of all, Im nearly nine months prego and a complete slug. Second of all, our computer died and I have been without one until a few weeks ago. And third of all, I still am having a hard time acclimating myself to these new computer. Nonetheless, here we go. I am going to start where I left off. Next up......Halloween!!! I know! Dont laugh but if I dont post about it how am I going to remember this stuff people???
Kinsey was an absolutely perfect bumble bee! We went to the zoo and there was entirely too much stimulation there. The next night we went trick or treating in the neighborhood. She was a pro! We finished off the night at grandma and grandpas. Enjoy the pics!

Now thats a mouthful of candy!!!!

Peters Family Pumpkin Trip

Last week we made it out for the annual pumpkin patch trip. Now I know its only the second year, but its kinda something you gotta do. It was a super windy day and we made it early in the morning before the rain hit! We went with our dear friends and the kids had a blast. We did the hayrack ride, searched for the most perfect pumpkins, pet the animals and rode on the cow train.
Kinsey was a real trooper and at 24 weeks prego I felt pretty darn good.
Overall the day was a success and will be repeated next year. Happy hunting ya'll!

Sleeping Big Girl Style

So I knew this time was coming......All along we had planned for Kinsey to transition into a toddler/twin bed so that we could free up the crib for the new baby. We got a toddler bed from a fab friend and started to piece together her new room.
All this big girl stuff is a little too much for mammas heart to take.
I was way apprehensive about this transition as I selfishly thought she was going to sleep worse and in turn make me lose sleep.
Well turns out shes a pro and absolutely loves her new room. Other than a few thuds in the middle of the night where I had to go put her back into bed she has done great!
Although I may shed a tear or two, big girl bed = happy mamma and happy baby!

Its a BOY!

We found out on Monday that we are having a BOY!!!
This came as a total shocker to me! For some reason I had it in my mind that this baby is for sure a girl and never really gave it a second thought.! Boy oh Boy!
When the sonogram lady said she was 100% he had little boy parts, Josh said "I feel like I won the Super Bowl." Totally cute. I am so happy that my husband is so happy.
Now this momma needs to wrap her mind around the fact that we will be buying blues, greens, cars, tractors.....all the stuff I am not used to.
We are so happy most of all that everything seems to be healthy with our little baby. God has blessed us in so many ways and we cannot wait to meet this little fella!! We love you so much already baby!

Love this guy

Date night is few and far between in our house. It seems like we just never take time to schedule something with just the 2 of us. We just really like our friends and when we have an opportunity to do something kidless we choose to hang with them too.

Time spent with just my honey fills my love tank to the brim. We really do need to make this more of a priority. Nothing like cranking up the music and jammin out, being silly with the one you love.

Once this new little one gets here we need to make it a frequent thing to get out of the house, away from the kids, be alone, eat a hot meal, have a cocktail and just have fun!!!
Love you babe!

16weeks

So I am a little behind on pregnancy updates but whats new. I have already reached the second trimester mark and let me tell you these 16 weeks have flown by. Somehow it seems with a little one at home to chase after I have very little time to actually remember I am pregnant. (I think this is a good thing:)).
With Kins the first trimester was complete hell. Nausea, vomitting and utter tiredness all day every day. If my memory serves me correctly it seems all of that stopped directly around the second trimester mark.
With this baby I have mild nausea and ickiness that seems to only be in the morning and the nausea meds my dr. gave me do the trick. So much so that other than this belly I don't feel pregnant. Speaking  of that.....this time around my belly seemed to pop out of nowhere and I am for sure showing A LOT sooner.
On Monday we go back for another checkup and will schedule another sonogram after that. So with any luck with will be able to find out the sex of baby P in the next couple of weeks. Whoo Hoo!!!
Hope everyone has a great rest of the week and have a cocktail for me!!(Seriously....please do:))!

Shaving Cream Fun

So yesterday Kinsey and I broke out the shaving cream in an attempt to make a HUGE mess and have lots of fun. Great idea right? This girl does not like to get messy darn it. Knowing this, I thought we would just start off with a small bowl of shaving cream to see if she would put her hands in it. No dice. So mommy started off in hopes Kinsey would follow. Once again, no dice.
So I ended up with shaving cream all over me and Kinsey was clean as could be. I couldn't possibly let that happen. I may or may not have taken the shaving cream and put some on her hands and tummy much to her dismay. She seemed to like it the more dirty that I got....so here goes nothing. I am covered at this point. Now Kinsey thinks this shaving cream stuff may not be too bad. So in the tub we go and I let her get out all of her bath babies and cover them as well. In total this lasted about 20 mins and by then she had had her fill. So quick bath and fun afternoon activity is over. Wah Woh.
Oh well.....you can't blame a mom for trying. :)

18 months.

Even though we are pushing 19 months I had better get this documented so my old mind will have something to refer to when she is much older.
I can hardly believe a year and a half has passed since you joined our family. It almost seems that life didn't exist before you were here. You have changed our lives so much and I have a heavy heart that you are growing so quickly. You change daily and I couldn't imagine a second without you. I love you so much Kinsey bear.
Ok Ok enough sappy mom stuff.
You walk run everywhere and I can't keep up with you.
You are wearing size 4 diapers and 18 months clothes
You are very short for your age(at least you dont have your daddys height!)
You talk non stop, a lot of which I can't translate
Some favorite words include dadda, momma, up, help, light, oh uh, owe, dog, hi, baby....and many more which I am forgetting.
You go to bed very easily at 8pm
You usually don't wake before 8:30am
You take a solid 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon
You eat pretty much anything we do but kiwis are your favorite
You love when dadda gets home and will wait at the door calling his name
You love baby einstein movies
When you are hurting or need something you are a total mommys girl

I love the little girl you are at the exact moment. Here is your 18 month and 2 day pic.(Sorry a little distracted these days.)

Excuses Excuses

Ok so I have been a total lazy BUM!! This shows through my lack of blog updates, the fact my house looks like a bomb exploded in it, my lonely husband, and the large circles under my eyes. In fact, I'm pretty pathetic. I have absolutely no energy, I could sleep all day and I want to puke about 55% of the time. Don't worry....there's a very good explanation for all of this slothlike behavior:

Yep thats right!!Kinsey will be a big sister and we will add other baby to our family approximately February 10th, 2011.
I try to remember back to when I was pregnant with Kinsey and think that it is actually such a short tim in my life and that the ickyness of the first trimester will not last forever. Oh well.....put your big girl panties on and suck it up(this is what I keep telling myself!!!!!).
No no but really, I am so excited to meet this new little life and can't wait to make our little family of three a family of four. All of my friends who have more than one child tell me that you love the second one just at much as the first.  I am so excited for all of the changes that will be going on around here and more importantly I can't wait for my energy to return!

Celebrating another year

Today is our 3 year wedding anniversary! In many ways it seems like these last 3 years have flown by and in others it seems as if we have been married forever. I am so lucky to get to call Josh my husband. He treats me the same as when we started dating. He still spoils me and tries to sweep me off my feet. Josh is an amazing father and has the patience of a saint.

As we continue to grow in our marriage, I look forward to growing our family and the love we have for eachother. I am so blessed that God has brought you to me and I dont think I could possibly love you more. Thanks for everything you do and I love you so much muffin (He hates when I call him that :))!

Grass

Ahhhh the beautifulness of grass!! Our house is no longer surrounded by a dirt field.....instead we have luscious green grass. Two weeks ago Josh and some of our most awesome friends spent 4 hours laying sod. I, luckily, had to work that day. Sure was nice to leave looking at a brown pasture and come back to nice grass!!! Big shout out to all the guys that busted their booties helping us. We are really lucky to have dependable, hardworking and AWESOME friends.

This weekend I am going to break out my green thumb and plant some shrubs. Slowly but surely we will have a complete yard!!! Whoo Hoo!

Easter

Our family had such a great Easter. We spent the morning at church then had brunch with grandma and grandpa. The evening was spent with my side of the family and we whipped up some tasty fajitas!!
Kinsey absolutely HATED her dress at first. She was intent on ripping the bow off the front. She settled down after awhile and other than it slowing her down a bit on her climbing she tolerated it.
She scored BIG on the baskets and walked away with lots of clothes, sidewalk chalk, coloring books and colors, refrigerator letter magnets and bubbles!!!
God has blessed our family so much and HE IS RISEN!!!!!

Yard Yard Yard

When we bought our new house we knew we were going to have to put the ENTIRE yard in. In the beginning that was something that sort of appealed to us. We wanted to do it all ourselves. Well that thought has gone quickly and now we know what a real pain it is. We started with a dirt field and though the pictures do not really look like it we have made quite a bit of progress. First was the well. Now that we have a well we dont have to use city water to water the grass. Then came the sprinkler system. We knew we were doing sod so we knew we pretty much had to have a sprinkler system. We have outlined all of our landscaping and flower beds and Josh has 2 of the fours areas lined out and mulched off. Then came the trees. We have planted 2, although another will come after everything else is done. Our plans are to actually do all of the shrubs and decorative flowers/plants after the sod is down. We had planned to do the sod last weekend however due to all of the rain on Friday we were unable to do a final grade of the yard in order to actually lay it on Sat. UNFORTUNATELY we have to wait another week and a half on the sod. POO....oh well. Im getting a little sick of living in a dirt field so grass cannot come soon enough.
I am so ready for Kinsey to run and play in the yard......Patience I tell myself....Patience.

Weekend Trip

Last weekend the Peters headed up the KC for a weekend getaway. We spent the weekend at my Aunt and Uncles house. That was exactly what the Dr ordered. My brother and his girlfriend came too and it was absolutely amazing to just relax and have some fam time over the two days we were there. We arrived in time for Kinseys third (I believe.....) cousins 1st birthday party. Little Harleigh was a perfect birthday princess and got showered with tons of gifts. That evening my aunt prepared delicious pork burritos and of course some tasty margaritas to go along with it. We all went to bed early and woke early to enjoy a delicious brunch and KU basketball in the afternoon. We headed home late Sunday afternoon. We ate a ton, chatted a ton and just relaxed.
Kinsey kept busy going up and down up and down and up and down the stairs. She quite the pro now. They also had an old rocking chair that entertained her for the majority of the time. I was secretly a little excited to share a room with her because I really wanted her to sleep with us in bed. WRONG. She tossed and turned and tossed and turned all night. At one point her butt was on my head. YIKES! Nonetheless she slept great.....mommy not so much.
Oh well....Thats the life of a parent. Enjoy some pics and have a great day!

Wow crazy hair

Bed head.....She woke and went straight to the chair

Random Thought

I think I may have a caffeine addiction. Each day I wake I am instantly thinking of how soon I can get the coffee brewing and finally sip into a piping hot cup. Well now thats not too bad.....but then I have another cup. Now that the day is started I am thinking of when I will get to have the second love affair in my life.....Dr.Pepper. Oh how I love the crisp taste of an ice cold D.P.
I never really had much caffeine until I entered the world of motherhood. It could have been those sleepless nights that started this whole thing. Then I think it turned into the fact that after chasing a little one around all day I am spent and rather fix myself a meal I just find it easier to drink LOTS and LOTS of caffeine.
Its no secret....when night time rolls around I really like a glass of wine.....or two. There is just something relaxing about a glass of reisling. I think it signifies the ending of the day to me. That no matter how crazy or hectic it had been.....it will end. And perhaps even sooner if I have more wine:)
Ending note........I sure do consume a lot of liquid calories......Yikes......This may have to change soon.....or not!

Doll House

So I took a picture of Kinseys doll house because the other day it hit me! I don't have a baby anymore.....she is a toddler. I just happened to be walking by, probably shuffling laundry from one end of the house to the other, as she was playing with her her house. Im not really sure why but I stopped to watch her play for a minute. She was playing with this house as though she were a big girl. She would ring the doorbell, open the front door and then reach inside to see if she could grab one of the occupants which were in their bed or on the potty. (If you look close enough you can see the potty straight through the front door.) She would actually place the people where they were supposed to go and it really seemed as if she knew what was going on. Before she would just push the entire house over or grab at random things on the house, but now she is a whole new girl.

I had to take a minute to soak it all in....then I ran and got my camera as I knew this would be blogworthy. I love to watch her grow and change but sometimes I get caught up in day to day living and it hits me out of nowhere!!!! WOW! Shes growing so quickly.

Then I grabbed a glass of wine and watched her sonogram video and had a good cry fest. I sure do love my girl!!!

Flashback Friday!

Our wedding day. May 31st 2008.

This used to be my baby before Kinsey came along. Now hes just Hercules. (I still love him....just as a dog now)

College! This is a rotation at the Sedan Kansas Emergency room. Can we say culture shock!

My besties with a bun in the oven!

9 months pregnant

The happiest day of my life

Wow looking back at these pictures makes me sad in a way. It feels like time is moving so quickly and I feel like Im not able to slow down and really cherish each moment. Its strange how we go through different seasons in our lives and although at the time they may not seem so significant when we look back on them we wish we had seen them as such. My life has changed so much in the last 5 years and my hope for the next 5 is that I am able to slow down and enjoy those special moments that I will never again get to relive.

Have a great weekend everyone!

An evening at the library

Last week I heard about story time at the library. I thought it would be fun for us to go as a family and see if Kinsey would be interested. Well it turned out that story time was geared towards 3 to 5 year olds and she was just too little to stay interested. The library, however, has a great section for smaller children. All of the hardback books are on the lowest shelf and she headed straight for them. We both took turns reading with her(which we do all the time at home but for some reason she seemed to be much more intersted here) and then got to pick a book to check out and take home. My hope here is that she learns to love the library and reading at a young age and perhaps we can come back to story time in a couple years :)

Snow Day(s)

Wow this weather sure puts a damper on my mood. After a very short time inside both Kinsey and I developed cabin fever. Sure I had to work and all....but two days in really gives me an itchin for spring. Oh well nonetheless we decided to try a few activities. And much to my dismay, she enjoyed neither of them!!
Oh well.....At least we got those baby sensory neurons a firing!

Finger painting sounds fun right? Negative here pal!

Lets bring some snow in to play with. I even added food coloring for extra excitement! Negative pal! Rejection!

Birthday Girl

Ok  Ok running a bit behind on this one but read previous posts and that will be explained! We celebrated our baby girls one year birthday on Jan 1st. It just so happened that her actual birthday fell on a Saturday so she truely was the birthday girl that day.
What an absolutely perfect day we had. We are so lucky to have the family and friends that we do to share our lives with. Kinsey is so blessed to be surrounded by these wonderful people. We had her party at our house as we wanted her to be in a familar place while all of the chaos was going on. Her party was cupcake themed. My good friends mom made the cupcakes and Kinseys smash cake. I (with the help of close family and friends), made the cupcake lollipops. Then we also had a few other snacks in the mix. Kinsey got so many presents that our house had to have an overhaul in the area of baby toy storage.
My awesomely wonderful brother made a slide show of Kinseys first year of life set to uber sappy for mom songs. I cried my eyes out. To see how much she has grown and changed. Not to mention how much she has changed me. *Tear Tear Tear*
She opened presents with assistance from mom and dad. Then came time to eat her cake. Complete DUD! She touched it and then wanted absolutely nothing else to do with it. She did not like the fact that her hands had icing on them and wanted mommy and daddy to get her out of her chair NOW!
Oh well.....I guess you come to expect those things with little ones. We wrapped up the cake and saved it in hopes to use it during her one year pics......(which I need to schedule very soon)

*Warning* do not continue reading unless you want sappy mommy talk. This is just so I can keep my feelings somewhere to reflect on when she is 16 and wants nothing to do with me

Kinsey
This year has been completely life changing for me and your daddy. You have changed us as individuals. I had no idea I could love something as much as I love you. My hope for you is that you grow up to be happy young woman with pride in herself. I think of how much you have changed me and look forward to the day you become a mother and know the kind of love I have for you. You have absolutely completed my life and marriage. I look forward to watching you grow and seeing the changes that are ahead for you. I cherish every moment I spend with you and love you more than anything princess
Love always
Mommy

Now for the good stuff!!! Pictures
